Bernt Schnettler is Professor of Sociology at the University of Bayreuth. He has undertaken studies on communicative genres such as computer-aided visual presentations, extraordinary experiences and commemoration ceremonies. Recently, he has become especially interested in combining detailed sequential analysis and hermeneutic interpretation to analyze focused video data. His research on knowledge communication, dissemination and visualization is based on neoclassical works in the sociology of knowledge, which he has further developed in close cooperation with colleagues at the TU Berlin and the UCM Madrid. Bernt Schnettler maintains an active affiliation with several national and international scientific associations, including the European Sociological Association Research Network Qualitative Methods and the Sociology of Knowledge Section of the German Sociological Association. His most recent publications include „Video-Analysis. Methodology and Methods. Qualitative Audiovisual Data Analysis in Sociology‟, published by Lang (2nd edition 2009) and co-edited by Hubert Knoblauch, Jürgen Raab and Hans-Georg Soeffner.
